So, we’ve learned so far that the understanding of leadership, in all its complexity, is evolving.
In more ‘recent’ years (since the 70s), authentic, ethical and servant leadership have gained prominence, as well as the idea of stewardship, a sustainable and future focused form of leadership.
These approaches can also all be considered forms of Value-Based Leadership (VBL). Or, more accurately, VBL is an attempt to integrate all these ‘recent’ approaches.
Therefore, leaders or organisations that adopt a VBL philosophy, may still be able to find a more specific and unique leadership niche within the VBL umbrella. And this also highlights another benefit of VBL, the fact that it’s adaptable enough to incorporate all these contemporary approaches.
Let’s start exploring exactly what this approach can offer.
